The requests to perform have continued to pour in from Northern Ontario right down into Michigan. The Sheridan Band's music reflects the musical influences they had experienced growing up in an Irish-Canadian family. The traditional Celtic folk songs dominate their music throughout the evening. "Blower of Winds" by Rob Higginbotham Rob is a varied and diverse songwriter, reaching for inspiration from many different streams. Among those streams is his experience with early music, particularly from Celtic tradition. In 1997, Rob wrote a collection of songs that are markedly Celtic, that are featured on his album "Words & Music", published in 2001. Of particular interest is the song "Blower of Winds", a Celtic tribute to the "Giver of Earth and Sunlight", a Christian hymn suspiciously bordering on the side of paganism, which features tinwhistle, bodhran, as well as open tuned guitar. Also of note in the Celtic vein are "Ivy" and "Caleb's Song", two opened-tuned, Celtic-style guitar instrumentals.Hometown: Nashville, TN, USASimilar Artists: Ceilli Rain, Al Petteway, Loreena McKennittWebsite: Rob HigginbothamDownload MP3: "Blower of Winds" --posted by Michael Madison, Sunday, July 16, 2006 Find Celtic Free Music Downloads from the Brobdingnagian Bards. "Cooley's Set" by The Wild Clover Band Established in the year 2000, The Wild Clover Band has quickly become a regional favorite for its version of traditional Irish folk music, which blends the Celtic styles with jazz, bluegrass, classical and rock influences.Because of this fusion of styles, The Wild Clover Band advertises themselves as “Irish Music and More.†Playing in a local pub, the group began primarily as an instrumental group focusing on Irish and American fiddle tunes. They have now evolved into a group that specializes in Irish dance tunes, pub songs, and ballads and has played festivals, community concerts, pubs, and private functions throughout the state of Nebraska, as well as Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and South Dakota. The band features a wide array of instruments including mandolin, fiddle, bass, banjo, bouzouki, guitar, penny whistle, flute, bodhran and accordion. This versatile instrumentation has allowed the band to explore the Irish genre and expand on its “and More†component by adding some non-Irish tunes to their repertoire including selections from the rock, jazz, country and bluegrass genres. This versatility and excellent musicianship has gained the band a strong local following and has made them very marketable. If you get the chance to see The Wild Clover Band, it is a safe bet that you will be thoroughly entertained.Hometown: Kearney, Nebraska, USASimilar Artists: Gaelic Storm, Irish Rovers, Clancy Brothers, Wolfe TonesWebsite: The Wild Clover BandDownload MP3: "Cooley's Set"Buy CD: "Behind the Blarney" --posted by Michael Madison, Thursday, June 29, 2006 Find Celtic Free Music Downloads from the Brobdingnagian Bards. "Stool of Repentance" by Scalags The meeting between Amelia Campbell and Dave Harnetty in 2004 brought about the Scalags. The Collection of music on the Scalags 1st album is an eclectic mix of old and new songs and music. "Stool of Repentance" is a tune written in the 1700's by Neil Gow, friend of Robert Burns and by all accounts, one of Burn's favourite tunes. The Scalags' arrangement of the music has brought it to a feel of rock-trad-house mix. "Serene Loch", also featured on myspace.com, is an ambient water chillout track.
